YOU CAN HELP

CAN YOU HELP?

ABSOLUTELY!

As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the generous support from many parts of the community:

  • State, Commonwealth and Local Government

  • Business

  • Community groups

  • Philanthropic Foundations and Individuals

Your support ensures we can continue our work and provide the best care to our clients.

We need support for:

OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

The more programmess we can deliver into the community,

the better chance we have of preventing family and domestic

violence getting to the stage that a refuge is needed.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

Escaping family and domestic violence is only the first step, rebuilding life afterwards takes time and access to safe, stable and affordable accommodation is a fundamental step. The more transitional housing we have, the more women and children we can transition from  our crisis accommodation service back into the community. This in turn frees space at the refuge for more women.

Goods and In Kind Support
DONATING GOODS

Can you imagine re-establishing a house with children from scratch? Often it is the simple things that can make a big difference. Orana House accepts many donations in kind including:

  • Good quality women and children's clothing in season

  • Non-perishable food

  • Toiletries, shampoo, creams

  • Good quality children's toys and books

We are unable to accept donations of furniture and larger items but can refer you to other organisations who will be pleased to accept them.

Volunteering
VOLUNTEER

Due to the safety of our clients and the need to keep our accommodation locations confidential, we rarely have volunteers helping directly at the service.

However, we are keen to utilise volunteers in other ways such as locating or sorting donations, fundraising for us, helping with specific functions and events such as pampering days or our regular social support group.
